Dermal Fillers - Juvederm

Am I a Candidate for Juvederm®?

Juvederm has proven successful for almost all patients eager to remove premature wrinkles or fill in thin lips. Due to the natural substances used in Juvederm injections, the low-risk procedure is safe for the majority of patients who are seeking an effective anti-aging skin care treatment.

How Does Juvederm® Work?

Juvederm is a dermal injectable filler that uses a hyaluronic acid-based gel to achieve glowing, wrinkle-free skin. Hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring body substance that's not derived from animals, is combined with other proteins to comprise Juvederm's FDA-approved, biodegradable, wrinkle filler. The hyaluronic acid gel fills in wrinkles and lips by working as a binder of the skin's natural collagen and elastin. It is injected into the lips and the skin where wrinkles and fine lines have developed in response to natural collagen deterioration.

Are Juvederm® Treatments Painful?

While sensations can differ from patient to patient, Juvederm injections reportedly cause only minor discomfort, or a slight prick or sting at the injection site. Topical anesthetic creams, while unnecessary for Juvederm treatments, may be applied prior to injection if the patient chooses.

Is There a Recovery Time for Juvederm® Injections?

No, Juvederm patients should be able to resume normal activities that same day.

Does Juvederm® Have any Side Effects?

Possible side effects include temporary redness, swelling, bruising, numbness, or itching at the injection site. If any of these symptoms occur, they usually disappear within 3-7 days. Redness and bruising can be covered with makeup if it's a concern.

How Long Do Results Last With Juvederm®?

Juvederm injections will produce youthful, wrinkle-free results for about 6-8 months. Depending on the patient, and maybe with the help of Juvederm's related products Juvederm Ultra or Juvederm Ultra Plus, effects can last up to a year. For the best results with Juvederm, injections usually need to be administered periodically over a length of time and then follow-up sessions can be spaced more and more apart.
